Her works capture the peaceful and gentle emotions of a warm afternoon.
Inspired by her daily life with three cats, each piece radiates affection and vitality.
Through modern colors and soft touches, the cats embody simple happiness and hope in everyday life.
Her paintings invite us to imagine a kind and harmonious world within an often cold reality.

Kim, Min Ji
The story begins where unfamiliar landscapes meet familiar emotions.
Moving between reality and imagination, the artist captures the time between day and night.
Light, water, and shadow are re-formed into a language of feeling.
Each painting reveals an inner landscape where memory and emotion quietly intertwine.

His artistic world does not remain merely within the realm of visual beauty. His work explores the complexity of the human interior and its multilayered sensibilities, with the concept of “boundary” at its core. Yet the boundary referred to here is not simply a line of separation or division. Rather, it is a multilayered and fluid point where thought and emotion, identity and otherness, chaos and order intersect. Kukhyun’s pictorial spaces are always in a state of trembling upon this boundary, and through that subtle instability, they capture the essential nature of human existence.

My belief is simple: a painting must first and foremost be painterly.
Rather than technical perfection, I seek to convey warmth and vitality through free, expressive strokes.
What matters is not the subject itself, but how my sense of form and color emerges through it.
Between abstraction and figuration, I pursue a catharsis born from vibrating colors and forms.

My paintings are deeply personal stories.
I do not remember exactly when, but I recall watching the film Surrogates. It was released before the Avatar series became popular, and although it was not especially well known, I believe it stayed in my mind for a long time because of its striking premise: the creation of avatars that could live in place of oneself.
The figure of Her in my paintings was also born during the COVID-19 pandemic as an avatar that could stand in for me. The Her series is inspired not only by the artist’s own inner world and emotions, but also by the stories of ordinary women around her.
Not every day can be like a party, yet in the image of women putting on makeup and preparing to go out, I sometimes see another self emerging from within. At times, I hope they step away from the routine of daily life, cast off their fear of confronting reality with a bold and confident gaze, and discover hope through an overflowing sense of self-assurance.

As I walk, I often notice small weeds growing in places untouched by human attention—between cracks in asphalt, beneath broken walls, and on abandoned land.
Though they are often dismissed as insignificant, I see in them the essence of life: the quiet strength to take root and endure within a given environment.
In my work, weeds become more than natural forms; they evoke the rhizomatic structure of life, expanding without center or hierarchy, like invisible relationships that connect us all.
I use discarded business cards as material, transforming these fragments of past connections into layered surfaces that carry traces of time, rupture, and recovery.
Through the interplay of texture, color, and organic form, I seek to visualize resilience, imperfection, and the unseen networks that shape our existence.
Ultimately, my work reflects on the strength of beings that continue to grow, persist, and leave traces behind—like weeds, and like ourselves.

Korea Moonjar
Moonjar begins with a memory from the artist’s childhood, of gazing at the moon.
In the artist’s heart, the mother remains as a figure who, on nights when the full moon rose, placed a bowl of clean water on the jangdokdae and quietly prayed for the well-being of the family.
Within that serene scene, the moon came to represent not merely a natural object, but a symbol of prayer, love, and protection.
As time passed, the artist encountered a moon jar, its form resembling the moon itself.
Inside that round and empty vessel, the artist rediscovered the moonlight of childhood and the heart of the mother.
This encounter became the starting point of a body of work that brings together porcelain and the moon jar.
Through the light of porcelain, the artist recalls memories of moonlight,
and through the repetitive act of joining and attaching, slowly builds up time and emotion.
The artist’s moon jar goes beyond its traditional form,
existing as a vessel that holds both the heart that once prayed for the family’s well-being and the enduring light of memory.
